Object Placement Manager – Place, Align & Scatter in Seconds
Stop nudging objects one by one. Object Placement Manager is a compact, tab-based 3ds Max toolkit that turns the tedious parts of scene layout — spacing, aligning, pivoting, scattering, and conforming to surfaces — into a single click. What used to take dozens of manual transforms now takes seconds, so you can spend your time on the art, not the busywork.
Everything lives in one clean, dockable panel and works directly on your current selection. No setup, no helper objects, no scene clutter — just select, click, done. Every action is a proper undo step, so you can experiment freely.
What’s inside — Five tools, one panel:
- Distribute — Space any number of objects evenly along X, Y, or Z, by pivot distance or by real bounding-box gaps. Fixed spacing or fit-between-endpoints, in any order you like.
- Pivot Manager — Snap each object’s pivot to any of 27 bounding-box points with a single click. The viewport updates instantly.
- Align — A fast 3×3 grid to line objects up to a reference by any face (edge) or by center, on any axis. Perfect for flush walls, centered props, and clean layouts.
- Randomization — Break up repetition in one shot: randomize position, rotation, and scale within your own ranges, or keep a random percentage of a selection for natural scatter.
- Z-Conform — Drop scattered objects onto any surface along Z with a single click. Works on wavy planes and terrain, respects Wave/Noise modifiers, and keeps X/Y in place — ideal for settling rocks, props, and scatter onto uneven ground.
Why artists love it:
- ⚡ Massive time savings — replace repetitive manual transforms with one click.
- 🎯 Precise & predictable — real bounding-box math, not eyeballing.
- 📦 Group-aware — a group is treated as one object with one bounding box, so nothing scatters apart.
- ↩️ Fully undoable — every operation is a named undo step.
- 🪶 Quick, lightweight installation — run the included installer once, then add OPM to any toolbar, menu, quad menu, or shortcut from the Shirbeigi.Studio category.
Whether you’re laying out an environment, dressing a set, or scattering assets across terrain, Object Placement Manager keeps your workflow fast, clean, and repeatable.
